Has anyone ever suffered from sledge hammer finger? What is the recovery similar to?
I have injured my ring finger playing cricket and the doctor reckon its either fractured (which it have been a couple of times before) or, worse, I've torn tendons (and hold 'mallet finger').
I will find out tomorrow when I enjoy an x-ray and ultrasound, but am fearing my cricket season have probably been cut short!
Has anyone else suffered a similar injury? I'm told it may require wearing a splint for 6-12 weeks and possibly surgery ... is that true? What else does the rescue process involve?
Answer:
If cartilage is injured why does it take longer to alleviate than say if the bone be broken?
I had sledge hammer finger in my middle finger, it's not an actual tear of ligament but the bone breaks and the ligament pulls it away from the fundamental bone. The recovery for me be just a splint to preserve the finger straight to allow the bone to stay in place. I am young so i have a fairly short rescue time but depending on age they'll probly give you exercises to do once the splint is past its sell-by date. Sometimes it doesn't heal on the first try, I believe the most they will try is 3 times splinted formerly they do surgery in which the place a bolt surrounded by your finger keeping it completely straight (this is permanent).
Does getting you belly buttion pierced hurt?
Going to have to follow those directives. If ya dont you will have a permenant disfigurment since the finger extensor muscle has be torn.
