Need help near Shin Splints?
I enjoy been seeing a podiatrist who have given me stretches to do; he's tapped my foot and also had on-going thoughtful and soft tissue massages, none of which have helped. The distress is now affecting my day by day activities, what can I do presently????
Answers:
why is this happening to me?!?
Shin splints usually come down to one of a few things:
1. Training errors...training to hastily too quickly
2. Inadequate rest before resuming activitity (as an example, for citizens who've developed shin splints that progressed to stress fractures, I recommend that they be completely PAIN FREE for at a month before returning to low impact/limited immensity bearing exercise and tiniest 8 weeks before returning to running)
3. Improper footware
4. Improper training surface.
If adjectives the above have be addressed, it usually comes down to structure and mechanics of the foot...stretching is impressive for some, but others need strengthening...markedly of quads, hip abductors and gluteals. Finally, if the structure of the foot is abnormal, corrective or supportive (whatever the wants are) orthotics are imperitive.
I recommend you follow up with a PT who have received signficant training in the biomechanics of the foot...especially with runners.

Hi. Shin splints are an injury which involves too much eccentric muscle undertaking of the tibialis anterior. If you can stand it, do loads of reverse calf raises (look up the exercise on bodybuilding.com) to motivation hypertrophy of that tibialis anterior. This will train the muscle to withstand more punishment before it get sore. Or alternately, try walking uphill more and downhill less.
