i own it done twice. they use a local anaesthetic to numb the area. it is outstandingly uncomfortable. afterwards it will sting to pee and to overcome this you may find a squeeze bottle to sprinkle hose as you pee. but the more you pee, the less it stings. do not enjoy sex after the procedure as well.

Cystoscopy is not a pleasant procedure. Yes, local anesthetic is used. Just realize that anything inserted along the urethral side of the road is going to compromise and erode the tissue lining, thus the stinging you will sense after the procedure is done.
Highly possible you will be nervous; discuss to the doc a day or two back the procedure and ask for one or two doses of Valium or Xanax to use the night since (to help you rest) and for the morning of the experiment.
