What is this "Mummy Restraint" ?
Can she still sit on my lap ?

it protects her from thrashing nearly and possibly harming herself or others performing test.
hold her hand and direct her attention away form the other flurry or tell her step by step what is going on if it will give support to.
note: children will respond as expected to the tone of your voice so don't show fear or bring back upset while the test is individual done. good luck momma!

I've never heard it call a mummy restraint, but when one of my kids were small, they be put in what the hospital call a "papoose." It had a knotty back but it be covered with filling and had restraints at the legs, arms, and chest to hinder her long enough to stitch up a cut (took perchance 30 or 40 minutes). She was with the sole purpose 4 at the time and was completely upset and crying hard because she fell and split her chin undo. It helped the ER individuals so that they could work without worrying roughly speaking hurting her more.I couldn't hold her, she had to sprawl flat. I don't see how you would be able to hold your daughter if this is what they penny-pinching by a mummy restraint. But you could probably hold her hand and rub her cranium to comfort her.

A mummy restraint is essentially wrapping a blanket or sheet or something similiar around the body, enclosing the arms and legs so the child can't see, hit or move the extremities during a procedure. It sounds uncomfortable, but to prevent injury to the artery and arm (and other body parts if the child starts swinging wildly or pulling away) while the blood is one drawn, it's necessary to hang on to the child still. Until she is old plenty to sit still without a doubt, it's the best and quickest method to complete the procedure. I don't know if you'll be able to own her on your lap. It's possible she will lay on a table, and you can hover over her and/or droop onto her during the procedure. At any rate, you'll be able to be close, and will hopefully preserve a positive, calm attitude around her, for her sake.Good luck!
