First of all, exercise. And at least possible 2 hours before bedtime or you'll be too wound up. Someone also told me that when I go to bed, if I found I couldn't fall asleep to grasp up again. If you do this every time then you'll train your brain to associate bed near sleep. So no more watching T.V. in bed lol.

Also, a good alternative to sleep medication is Melatonin. It is a natural drug that is protected enough to afford children. I give it to my daughter because she have trouble sleeping. Take one-two about 45 minutes previously bedtime. You can find them in the vitamin section.

And something that works to get me sleeping is milk, eggs, and turkey. I have no view why, but if I eat or drink those it's powernap time!

I've be an insomniac for about 4 years in a minute. The best trick that I've learned (and it doesn't work adjectives the time, but it's definitely help a lot) is: Close your eyes and count down from 100 to zero. Do NOT interested your eyes, and if you do, you have to start over. Make sure you receive into a comfortable sleeping position. Don't have any music or tv shows on that you wallow in, or your attention will be taken away from trying to fall asleep. Don't "view" it as trying to step to sleep. Just count down slowly (I do it to the beat of my heart) and if you get zero, basically start again. The key is to not undo your eyes. What will eventually happen (with me anyway) is you'll be counting, consequently all of a sudden your distantly thinking of something in your life that rolls onto something else and something else and your mind a moment ago drifts off lacking you even realizing it.
