Lidocaine Viscous.can it be swallowed?

The Doc. prescribed it for a sore throat & im suposed to gargle it. Gargling it doesnt help because it doesnt carry to the bottom of my throat where it hurts. Can i swallow some of it?? Or at lowest just tolerate some run down my throat??

No it won't hurt you. It's formulated to use in words, so if it gets swallowed it won't be bad for you at all. It may impart you heartburn or an upset stomach if you swallow too much though. I'd suggest diluting it in some cold water and letting it trickle down the throat for the best luck at certainly getting the spot that hurts. It isn't going to dull it for long, though- usually only a partially hour or so. But you can take supremacy of that time to get some food surrounded by yourself, as well as more cold liquid. The more cold liquid you can go and get into you, the less the throat will certainly hurt. If you let things get hold of dry, it will hurt a lot more. If you can take moisture into the air you are breathing, that also help. A pot of water heat on the stove will help if nil else, though a cool mist humidifier is best. That and freezer pops are about the simply other aids I can suggest.

has anyone tried Chantix and did it work for you?

it's not harmful to swallow it.contained by fact we sometimes use it as subdivision of a "GI cocktail". just cause sure it's not given to children as they cannot tolerate the dosage and it can be harmful to them.

Chiropractor or physical dream therapy for lower back problems?

I wouldn't swallow it.When you gargle something...gravity works...over time (and a few gargles) the lidocane should be dripping down to be you need it. Also, try for a "deeper gargle". that may abet too. Lidocane gargle is a new one for me though.hmmm.

We use it plentifully in the oncology (cancer) ward. It can be swallowed in small doses, but remember, it is an anaesthetic, and too much can interfer next to your ability to swallow soundly, and protect your airway. If you find the consistency too strange, get a small pump spray from a pharmacy, and dilute it slightly beside water - newly shake it really well. Sometimes soluble panadol is merely as good an choice (as long as it isn't medically contra-indicated). Good luck!

yes it can be swallowed.. as a nurse, i've given lidocane viscous to many patients and it is to be swallowed..if truth be told that's the reason why it's made to be viscous, to walk down the throat slowly hitting and coating the painful areas..
