Pain in my knees?

when ever i sit with my knees bent for a longtime whenever i try to go and get up my knees hurt. this probably happens to alot of citizens but not like this this is the most bloody thing i hold felt since my boyfriend broke up beside me. its escruciating pain i cried the first time i feel that its horrible. what could it be my family have a history of having arthritis contained by just roughly speaking every place of the body and im thinking thats what it is but i dont know can someone help me
