Sprained ankle?


Yesterday while running in the woods I rolled my ankle on a root... I landed on the outside of the ankle and it hurt for going on for a minute and then my coach/camp counselor who be with me told me it be best to keep running in sequence to keep the blood circulating. After hobbling for a few steps I regain a semi-normal stride and finished the 5 mile run at a fast tread. I iced somewhat and elevated but I had a six hour van ride next that day and mostly my ankle be kept still & not really taken care of. Today I enjoy a day rotten from running but this morning I woke up with extremely restricted range of motion surrounded by my ankle... I have to put your foot with my foot turned outward contained by order to know how to move at all: it is as if my achilles muscle is also affected even though individual the outer ankle is swollen, it is as if my achilles will not bend fully in establish to let me amble normally. What the heck is wrong near my ankle and when will it get better? Should I rime it or heat it??

It's swollen and what form of coach do you have?
Ice & elevate, 3 times a sunshine for 2 days, wrap with ace plaster for added support, and stay off it as much as possible.
On the third sunshine, use a bucket of hot water (as hot as you can stand) to soak the foot/ankle for 10 minutes later rotate the ankle slowly in both direction for almost 5 mins or so, 2-3 times daily. Repeat the above ice/elevate immediatly after soaking.
A mild sprain will give somebody a lift atleast a week or longer.
If you have an weak boot, cut the top & front off, place your foot contained by place then wrap the covering securly around all.
If still uncomfortable after 10 days, see a doctor for possible tendon tears.

why do we siesta?

Rest it first, then rime it, then put some compression on it, consequently elevate it. I screwed my ankle up pretty bad and they told me not to put grill on it; they said it'd feel nice on it, but it would increase the swelling. The swelling is probably what's keeping your Achilles' ligament from having a right range of motion.

Ice would've be good right after you injured your ankle. I'd suggest seeing a doctor..you could've done more than sprained your ankle. Best wishes in a speedy retrieval..

Be CAREFUL! Go see a doctor asap and brand sure they check it out completely. I rolled my ankle severely playing basketball when I was 17, be told I'd be fine: use ice, rest, elevate...blah blah blah. Long story short, I'm in a minute 42, and my ankle always turns out when I step or run, I am constantly turning it, and it pops and cracks on command like a firecracker. Get it checked out, and brand sure that you walk correctly on it as soon as you can, even if it hurts.

You obligation an x-ray to see if further dammage has occured. Running on a sprained ankle is more or less the worse thing you can do. Complete rest of the ankle is the lone cure. TIME heals.
