:)) Well, some people sleep beside their eyes open, but not to start of beside. My sister sleeps with her eyes open out, but when she goes to bed, with ease, she shuts her eyes until she is asleep. After wards she can't control much anymore. But I know that's not what you asked. almost everyone on my mother's side of the familial does including myself and my son. most people can't because the shape of the muscles around the eyes make it "closed" at redt for protection. all of us contained by my family who sleep beside eyes open range from just a slit to looking close to a crpse suffer some sort of eye problem or frequent pink eye.

note: most of us nose-dive asleep without our eyes fully closing, recurrently our pupils rollback and only the white is see for those of us with partial crack.
