why is it that during the week, when my alarm goes sour I have to drag myself out of bed but at the weekends, when my alarm isn't set I wake up up early minus fail and am powerless to get fund to sleep??

Probably because your inner body clock is used to wake up early, so annoying though isn't it? Why not try setting your alarm impulsive as you would during the week, and then when it go off at the weekend, purely turn it off, and travel back to sleep!
