What is paranekia?

my sister is 8 months pregnant and has have trouble with her wrists the concluding month now her finger have swollen up and the doctor says its paranekia..anyone know what this is? thanks

I think you're referring to paronychia, which is a soft tissue infection around a fingernail. It is usually cause by a bacterial or fungal infection.

I hold no idea what "paranekia" may be but as far as the swelling, it is pretty common. In certainty most if not adjectives pregnant women will experience swelling (edema) during some part of their pregnancy, especially of the legs and foot.
Do you mean "preeclampsia"? Swelling or conventional edema of pregnancy is not dangerous. If however if she suddenly begin to swell well into her second trimester, particularly within her hands and obverse, she may be developing preeclampsia. This is a serious condition that can be life threatening for the mother and toddler. Preeclampsia typically results in giant blood pressure during pregnancy. If this is the case, her doctor will maintain a close watch on her and if requisite hospitalize her.

It's paronychia, i believe. But are you sure it's right ? As i know, paronychia is infection / inflamation of the nail (base of pin fold). It is usually due to "Staph" bacteria germs. Mild cases can be treated near soaks and antibiotic cream, but most cases are treated with oral antibiotics. Sometimes an abscess (a pocket of trapped pus) forms and have to be lanced.
