I have a 3 level ACD done posterior in '96. Some bone be grafted from my hip and a titanium plate be also used.
I had a much longer recouping, 8 months, than usual. Most people do fine.
Post-op, don't clutch your neck brace past its sell-by date too soon. It's a pain, but worth it.
About 85% of my symptoms go away. I still get occasional numbness & tingling in my hand, but only occasionally.
