Torn Meniscus on my left knees?

I talked near my doctor last week and he mull over I might have torn meniscus. I will clutch MRI tomorrow and see the doctor on Wednesday. My understanding that if it be torn on the red zone, it does not need surgery. If it torn on the white zone, afterwards I will need surgery. Is that right? I be reading from the webmd.com If the doctor say that i stipulation surgery, i would go ahead and do it. it be pain for 2 and 1/2 week. Terrible!
