Heavy Lamp fell on child's head & he have a HUGE Lump!?

I'm waiting for a call hindmost from my doctor.

A heavy stained cup lamp struck my child's director from up high. Now he have a HUGE lump.

I have an rime pack on him.

The lump's so large I'm afraid the swelling might hurt his brain.

Should I emergency a CT Scan or X-ray when my doctor calls? He's acting OK but I'm afraid here is internal injury.

The lump on your child's director sounds like a hematoma,,(big bruise).I did a CT on a young at heart boy last week get hit with baseball close by the eye ...The thing swelled up to the size of an egg on his forehead. It looked awful..He turned out to be ok.
If your child is acting ok and didn't procure knocked out they will probably be fine...But if he/she is acting funny.dizzy or nauseated and throwing up this could be a sign of a concussion and he requirements emergency treatment...

Skull series is a set of x-rays of the childs skull usually 2 to 5 pictures of the skull at different angles. This a good choice if you purely want to make sure the child have no skull fractures.

Advantages of this are lower radiation dose.
Lower costs around $200.00 I think.
However it does not show up any problems next to the brain..

CT Scan of the brain can see internal brain injury and skull fractures...
Great test but the draw back are larger dose of radiation and the test can cost from $1000.00 to $5000.00 depending on where on earth you have it done at..

The course healthcare is today you will most of the time get the tryout you ask for ,,The DR. is too afraid you'll sue them if they refuse to lay down the test you want and it turns out they really needed the check...

I would say trust you Dr's evaluation..They are usually right.
But also remember you are the Parent you do what feels right for you situation and your child.

Head injuries swell confidently because the tissue can only expand one agency. Did he lose consciousness? Is he dizzy? acting strange? Ice is great and talk to your doctor. Whether or not a ct or mri, I would start near a skull series to see if fractured and avoid the radiation.
