Do women in point of fact have a better pain threshold than men do?

Answers:

Can marijuana be smoked contained by a cigarette?

Yes we do. In fact, men have a feeling LESS pain because they enjoy half as heaps pain receptors as women, and nonetheless for what us women go through, you don't hear us complaining partly as much as men.

I think they do for the simple certainty they deliver babies, most men would shoot themselves I think.

Best Pain Medication?

i think so..

is 97.1 degree F a good body heat?

I would say most do by the reality that women give birth.
Men seem to be babied more when they are children and so when they grow up they perform the same channel. A little sniffle and they act as tho the hospital should be notify. But then a great deal of men work out in the bake and very physical job that women would moan and groan about. I for one would not similar to being a roofer, surrounded by the heat or rainfall all morning. No thank you. So I guess we do balance respectively other out.

Yes, my mother once told me that if men could have babies at hand would not be as many children. In certainty not only is giving birth sensitive but having a miscarriage is worse. motrin vs tylenol-which is better or when to take what?

I find it amusing that no experimental data have been offered, merely "men can't enjoy babies so women must have a superior threshold." The inability to birth children has no relation to throbbing receptors. Just ask a woman who has have her uterus removed and can't have children. Here are some solid studies and articles from Scientific America, Heart Healthy Women, and Daily News. Fact is, women have a lower threshold for anguish, but both sexes experience pain differently.

Science Image: man and woman

When it comes to affliction, guys may be tougher than gals because they have more of a faddy type of protein, new research suggests. Two studies published online this week by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences verbs proteins known as GIRKs within sex-based differences in niggle sensitivity in mice. The findings could back researchers develop new gender-specific treatments for discomfort.

Previous research have shown that males tend to have a greater threshold for pain than females do and that medication affect the sexes differently, although the precise mechanism remained tentative. In the new work, scientists tested analgesic drugs on mice inept to produce the GIRK2 protein. Allan I. Basbaum of Rockefeller University and his colleagues found that male mutants have lower pain thresholds than ordinary male mice. Female mutants exhibited a tolerance comparable to that of their ordinary counterparts, however, suggesting that GIRK2 is responsible for sex differences in pain sensitivity. Male mutants also did not respond as favorably to two backache medications, clonidine and morphine, as the usual animals did.
In the second study, R. Adron Harris of the University of Texas at Austin and his colleagues tested varying types of palliative drugs on the mutant mice and found that they all activate GIRK2. The drugs still have some effect on the mutant mice, however, so other pain-mediating mechanisms are most credible at work as well.

women men pain
Women experience a greater number of pain episodes across their lifespan than men, in more bodily areas and near greater frequency. Women tend to focus on the emotional aspects of throbbing, while men tend to concentrate on the physical sensations. Women feel backache more than men, more often and for longer, researchers own found. But despite the popular belief that men are wimps when it comes to dealing with anguish, scientists discovered that men employ a problem-solving approach to draw from them back to work.

And women own been found to hold a lower threshold to pain.

But several studies hold revealed that not only do women report more strain during their lives, they also experience it in more parts of the body, more often and for a longer duration compared to men.

Researchers from the University of Bath said near appeared to be a difference in how men and women thought more or less pain, and anxiety may affect them surrounded by different ways.

The different strategies that men and women have contained by coping with dull pain may also actually sort their experience worse.

Problem-Solving Approach

Dr. Ed Keogh, a psychologist from the university's Pain Management Unit, said men may take a more problem-solving approach to anguish -- they think around what they can do to deal near the pain and win on with their lives.

By comparison women tend to be more thrilling and focus on the pain and how it is making them have a feeling, rather than thinking something like how they can deal next to it and get vertebrae to work, for example.

But the researchers said there is still more to cram about masculinity differences in coping near pain.

Dr. Keogh said, "What we hold to start thinking about is why are in attendance these differences and what are the treatment implications?"

One study carried out by the university involved asking volunteers to place their arm in a hip bath of warm river before plunging it into a container of rime water.

The researchers measured the dull pain threshold -- the point at which the participants first notice pain -- and misery tolerance -- the point at which they could no longer stand the pain.

Women be found to have both a lower niggle threshold and tolerance.

Emotional Aspects

Dr. Keogh said, "Until fairly only just it was controversial to suggest that in that were any differences between males and females contained by the perception and experience of pain, but to be precise no longer the case.

"Research is unfolding us that women experience a greater number of pain episodes across their lifespan than men, contained by more bodily areas and with greater frequency.

"Unfortunately, adjectives too often the differences between males and females are not considered surrounded by pain research or practice and instead are any ignored or statistically averaged."

The researchers suggested that while women tend to focus on the emotional aspects of the dull pain they experienced, men tended to concentrate on the physical sensations.

Chronic Pain in Children

The university is immediately investigating chronic pain surrounded by children.

The researchers said that as many as one contained by 50 children and adolescents live with severely weakening and recurrent throbbing, but there is little information on how best to treat them.

Professor Chris Eccleston, director of the Pain Management Unit, said, "Many nation used to think that chronic affliction was a uniquely developed problem, but recent studies have shown that several children are severely affected by niggle."
