I wouldnt verbs about carcinogens - you can procure them in barbeque food and ciggarettes, but its because of the road they are prepared and smoke etc and how they form. If you smoke it then it might be similar to tobbaco (liqourice comes from a plant). While worrying about carcinogens might be silly, I did find this on wikipedia -
