Working Out Knots With Massages?

My boyfriend and I both work out a lot and commonly capture very sore muscles. We're both college students and don't own the money for professional massages, but be interested in learning how to work "knots" out. Is here a method, other than grinding fingers into the spinal column (haha)? What do massage therapist do, exactly, to relax the tissue? Thanks!

Numbness in fingers?

When I do a structural bodywork session for clients (aka working out knots/ pain), I don't use any lotion or lubricant. First, I do some skin rolling to heat up the tissue. That is, picking up the skin with my fingers and thumb in a pinching behaviour. As long as you do it slowly, it shouldn't hurt and work your way through adjectives tight areas. (Check massagetherapy101.com for a further description of skin rolling) Then I use some direct pressure without moving on the trigger point (aka knot) for at most minuscule two minutes and friction it slowly after that if nessecary. But I never 'grind fingers' into it and work within the client's tolerance. You know it's too concrete if the other person holds their breath - that style of pressure is never good. Also hang on to yourself comfortable while you do this and don't overwork your thumbs. I also hold stretches for at least two minutes apiece. You'll know if you get the stretch right. Only after that I would do a good work with lotion to smooth it out. I don't know if you be looking for a more simple relaxing massage but this will categorically get any knot out.

My boyfriend and I have alike prob, and we give respectively other massages adjectives the time. What I do is a massage the in one piece back helpfully first to relax his muscles as much as possible. Sometimes heat pad work for this as well. Then I find his knot and use my thumbs to massage around the edges of them. Next, I use firm pressure to push directly on them and move his skin in circles over the tense muscle. He also like it when I use my knuckles or elbows, but I don't put all my weightiness on him. I also don't focus on any one of his knots for too long, because it can start to hurt if you do. I work on one, later either do another snarl or rub his whole wager on for a while, then budge back to the first one- similar to a cycle. To finish off, I rub his unharmed back for a while, consequently trail my fingernails up & down his back for a few minutes.

Hint: Lotion or chafe oil will hold on to friction burns from happening. Also try different technique on each other & find out what you both prefer.

Good luck to you both! For your anniversary or birthdays, you should treat yourselves to a professional work!
