Rolled ankle 10 days ago; should I run on it?


Well, I rolled my ankle about 9 days ago during soccer practice. Someone slide tackle me; so there wasn't much force exerted on the tendents of my ankle. The first couple of days, I r.i.c.e.d. it. Eventually, it died down on something like the 5th day. Today, when I tried to waddle on it, it hurt just a touch. After a while on walking on it, the pain go away. My question is, since I own intense soccer conditioning tomorrow, should I give it a couple more days to rest or should I travel ahead and play on it since it doesn't hurt?

P.S.- I own visited a doctor and I know its simply a sprain and not a fracture.

If you're having an intense soccer conditioning, next I would let your coach/supervisor know in the region of the progress of your injury and what your limitations are. If it gets swollen again, it's not a dutiful idea to save continuing practice.

Take plenty of Advil/Ibuprofen or even Aleve to keep down the inflammation and throbbing even if it doesn't hurt at the moment.

The best advice is to really rest. Since you're into a sport, I'm not sure how much time-out you can sacrifice...Keep up the r.i.c.e.d. too

Here's what happen to me but it might not happen to you:
I sprained my ankle something like 6 years ago running during gym class. I let it rest and get it checked out...just a sprain and no fracture. So I'm a dancer and after a couple weeks of rest I go back to my millions of hours of leap rehearsals and continued phys ed. Over the years I would notice that strain in my ankle kept coming wager on and then more frequently. X-rays showed zilch and everybody was puzzled. Then I get an MRI about 2 years ago and it showed that I have this joint injury where on earth I lost a lot of cartilage surrounded by my joint. It's a extraordinarily very amazingly rare valise and I'm slowly regaining some sort of cushioning in my joint by listen to my orthopedic surgeon/podiatrist.

So in conclusion, don't slight your injury. I know you're probably very staunch to your sport and hate sitting out (I know I do) but don't bring this lightly. I hope your injury doesn't escalate to the plane of mine (I'm just one of those awfully very unusual cases). Best of luck!

P.S. And I do agree with wrapping your ankle. A perfect pain reliever short the smell of Bengay is Biofreeze!

What causes organizer aches?

yes, if you constantly run on it it will give support to. It is almost like physical psychiatric help. Stretch a lot and put rime on it everyday. If you dont it will become stiff and swolle and will hurt even more.

Sleep Problems?

hey.. once i sprained my ankle i went fund on it and sprained it even worse.. but i didnt treat it as i should have.. newly make sure you rime it tonight and wrap it tomorrow before you play.. i recommend that you grasp an ankle brace when you play soccer now on to avoid even worse damages..hope this help.. mariaa
