Bandage helps treat faster, really?

I had a mole lasered rotten my nose today, and the derm told me to wear a band-aid next to ointment for two days, that the ice pack would help it restore to health faster. I really don't mind wearing it since I don't have anywhere to turn, but is this true, really?

The legend be that a cut would heal faster if moved out in the overt air. But, test done proved that they actually heal faster if sealed bad from the air. The cold compress will keep the lotion on the area so it will hold more and better so follow the doctor's orders.
