Every time I sleep on my left ear I get up up with a splitting headache a my ear is super sensitive; sustain?

For the past 6 or so years I rouse up with cramp in my ear and a headache everytime I sleep on my departed side. My ear is then sensitive to the touch for 20-30 minutes. My husband think it could be some kind of brass neck damage. I don't even know what characteristics of doctor I would go call round to find out. Any suggestions?
